Pulling together

The Discovery Passage Passage is a great example of communities pulling together. It's definitely a GREEN event. No motors allowed. This event is a fun raiser, not a fund raiser. The Discovery Passage Passage is more than a small boat event. It brings together first nations people, dragon boat groups, corporate groups, clubs and individuals from all walks of life. What is it that draws people to this water? What is so inviting and somewhat challenging about this passage? The tides are swift and the water is cold. It's as if the waters were saying to us, "Come and play here. We challenge you." There is a small element of risk, but with over 150 paddlers and safety boats there is safety in numbers. Highly experienced paddlers and novices enjoy the Discovery Passage Passage. For some people it's their first time in a canoe. There are individuals involved in this event from age 8 to age 84. Some of these boats are home built, some over 50 years old while others are high tech manufactured craft. The event is people pulling together to re-enact a passage from the past. It's GREEN. It's a memory that lasts a year. Discover the Discovery Passage Passage!
